Same Day Registration and Updates

Same-Day Updates of Existing Registration

How It Works After standard registration has ended, you may still immediately update your existing voter registration (address, party, etc.) either online on the Secretary of State’s website or in person at any Clark County Early Voting site or Election Day vote center of your choice. You may then vote a [[regular ballot]] at an in-person voting site. Be aware of the following:

• Online: Online same-day updating of existing registration is available starting on the 13th day before Election Day and continues up to and including Election Day.
  • In-Person Voting Only: You may only vote in person at an Early Voting site or Election Day vote center of your choice. You may not vote by mail.
  • No Online Name Changes: You may not make name changes online. But you may make them in-person at a voting site.
  • No Sample Ballot in the Mail: You will not be sent a sample ballot for the current election for your updated registration because same-day updating is after the 20th day before Election Day.
• In-Person: In-person same-day updating of existing registration is available at any Early Voting site or Election Day vote center when you check in to vote. You must immediately vote at the site where you made the update, not at any other voting site.

Same-Day Registration (New Registration)

How It Works After standard registration has ended, you may still immediately register to vote either online on the Secretary of State’s website or in person at any Clark County Early Voting site or Election Day vote center of your choice. If you meet certain conditions (see below), you may then vote a [[provisional ballot]] with all offices and contests that would be on a regular ballot at an in-person voting site.

• Online: Online same-day voter registration is available starting on the 13th day before Election Day and continues up to and including Election Day.
  • No Sample Ballot in the Mail: You will not be sent a sample ballot for the current election because same-day registration is after the 20th day before Election Day.
  • In-Person Voting Only: You may only vote in person at an Early Voting site or Election Day vote center of your choice. You may not vote by mail.
  • Immediate Voting Required: You must immediately cast a ballot at the Early Voting site or Election Day vote center where you checked in.
  • Clark County, Nevada, DMV Identification (ID) Always Required: When you check in to vote, you must show a current and valid (unexpired with current [2[Clark County, Nevada]2], residential address) [3[Nevada]3] Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driver’s license, [5[Nevada]5] DMV-issued state identification card, [4[Nevada]4] DMV Interim Document, or [6[Nevada]6] tribal Identification card (per NRS 232.006).
  • Proof of Residency (POR) Might also Be Required in Addition to the Always Required ID: Be prepared also to show additional POR [7[IF]7] the address on the above ID does not match your voter registration or is not where you actually reside. [8[POR supplements the above-required ID and does NOT substitute for it]8]. POR must have your name and the current [9[Clark County, Nevada]9], address where you actually live (provisions are available for homeless persons). POR may include one of the following if it contains the required information:
    • A military identification card
    • A bank or credit union statement
    • A paycheck
    • An income tax return
    • A property tax statement
    • A motor vehicle registration
    • A utility bill (electric, gas, oil, water, sewer, septic, cell phone, cable, etc.)
    • A mortgage statement, or residential rental or lease agreement
    • Any other document issued by a governmental agency
  • Counting Your Provisional Ballot: Your provisional ballot will be counted only after verification of your registration data, that you did not cast more than one ballot in the current election, and, if applicable, that you provided acceptable POR to supplement your [10[Nevada ID]10].
• In-Person: In-person same-day voter registration is available at any Early Voting site or Election Day vote center of your choice during the check-in process.
  • Immediate Voting Required: You must immediately cast a ballot at the Early Voting site or Election Day vote center where you registered to vote.
  • Clark County, Nevada, DMV Identification (ID) Always Required: When you register and check in to vote, you must show a current and valid (unexpired with current [11[Clark County, Nevada]11], residential address) [12[Nevada]12] Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driver’s license, [13[Nevada]13] DMV-issued state identification card, [14[Nevada]14] DMV Interim Document, or [15[Nevada]15] tribal Identification card (per NRS 232.006).
