BACKGROUND
Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability (DES) is seeking a qualified applicants to join the team as a Management Assistant in one of the following divisions:
- Public Communications and Outreach
- Compliance
- Small Business Assistance (SBA)

COMMITMENT:
Selected candidates will be expected to commit 15-20 hours per week for up to one year (1039 hours max). Additional employment time may be extended in one year intervals.

COMPENSATION:
Compensation is $17-$25 hourly based on the position, experience, and qualifications. Part-time employees are not eligible for full-time employee benefits.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION:
A valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodic employment background investigations may be conducted.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
(1) Management Assistant in the Public Communications & Outreach Division:
- Ability to write articles, news release and website content per AP Stylebook.
- Strong understanding and experience with development of social media content, including Facebook posts, tweets and smartphone video.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud software preferred
- Fluent in speaking and writing in Spanish a plus
- Assist the Department’s Public Information Administrator in planning, coordinating and executing the department’s outreach strategy.
- Copywriting, including development of social media content and drafting news releases
- Produce videos using a smartphone and edit with Adobe Creative Cloud software
- Complete, maintain and file all invoices, forms and records pertinent to public outreach and public information
- Organizing and managing “tchotchke” (giveaway items for events) inventory and outreach materials (signage, banners, etc.)
- Provide weekly reports to Public Information Administrator on outreach metrics
- Manage all aspects of outreach events on behalf of the Department, including
- Research local events
- Contact event organizers
- Maintain calendar of outreach events
- Schedule current DES employee volunteers for outreach events
- Other duties as assigned
(1) Management Assistant in the Small Business Assistance (SBA) Division:
- Types correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents related to the functions of the organizational unit to which assigned from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions, using a typewriter or word processor; may compose standard correspondence from brief instructions
- Proofreads and checks typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance with departmental policies, and correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Enters, edits and retrieves data and prepares periodic or special reports, using a computer system and following established formats and menus; may perform production computer information entry
- Establishes and maintains office files; researches and compiles information from such files; purges files as required
- Operates standard office equipment, including word processors, computers, facsimile equipment and central telephones; may operate microfilm, radio telephone and other departmental-specific equipment after training
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team
- Performs such office support activities as opening and distributing mail, and processing outgoing mail.
- May be required to operate a motor vehicle to various locations throughout the County
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs; will be required to move banker boxes of files
- Other duties as assigned
- Administrative processing of dust permit applications
- Administrative tasks associated with dust permit issuance
- Initial processing and logging of compliance documents (stationary source and asbestos reports)
- Issue correspondence to dust permittees and vacant land owners
- Complaint intake, logging and assignment
- Process dust class registration forms and issue dust cards
- Other duties as assigned
