
Chief Blackmon began her career with the Clark County Fire Department in 1995 in the Administration Division where she worked with the Communications, Life Support, and Rural Divisions of the department. During this time, she also assisted with human resources and recruitments. In 1999, she was promoted into the Fire Prevention Division where she served as a Fire Inspector Trainee, Fire Inspector, and was a member of the Hazardous Materials Inspection Team.
During her tenure as a Fire Inspector, she attained NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I and II, ICC Uniform Fire Code Inspector and Fire Inspector II, and Nevada State Fire Marshal Fire Inspector I certifications. She graduated from the Clark County Leadership Forum Class of 2001/2002. In 2003, she was promoted to Senior Management Analyst where she managed the department's budget and grant financial activities. She also attended the National Fire Academy focusing on Fire Service Financial Management and Executive Planning. In 2010, she was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief over the Fire Prevention Division during which she was fortunate to serve for two years as the Fire Marshal for Clark County. Since 2012, Chief Blackmon has directed the Administration Division of the department.
In April, 2020, Chief Blackmon was promoted to Senior Deputy Fire Chief where she will continue to oversee Clark County Fire Administration, including finance, human resources, employee assistance, peer support, infection control, and worker's compensation.
Kelly has proudly served the citizens of Clark County and the Clark County Fire Department for over 25 years. She has been married to John, a native Las Vegan, for 28 years and has two children, Nicholas who is married to Jessica, and her daughter Kristen. She recently became a first-time grandmother to a beautiful grandson, Wyatt.
