Steven DePue joined the Clark County Fire Department in 2005 and has established himself as a senior leader with broad expertise in operations, EMS, training, and large‑scale event management. Now serving as Deputy Fire Chief over Law Enforcement and Special Events, he provides executive oversight for one of the nation’s most complex special events environments. He assumed this role in February 2024 after successfully leading the department’s EMS Services Division.

Chief DePue’s leadership has strengthened operational readiness, interagency coordination, and strategic planning across the organization. His background includes extensive contributions to fire suppression training, service on regional committees and working groups, and mentorship of paramedics throughout the department’s high‑performance 911 system.

In his current role, he leads the executive planning and safety strategy for major events including Electric Daisy Carnival, America’s Party (New Year’s Eve), Super Bowl LVIII, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix / Formula 1 since its return to Las Vegas in 2023. He also serves as Public Safety Co‑Chair for the 2027 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championships and oversees preparations for the 2029 Super Bowl. His leadership extends to supporting public safety preparations for a new professional baseball stadium as well as supporting ongoing preplanning for some of the worlds most dynamic and advanced venues.

Chief DePue also plays a key role in homeland security initiatives, including integration into the Southern Nevada Center Terrorism Center (SNCTC) Fusion Center, coordinating regional Multi‑Assault Counter‑Terrorism Action Capabilities (MACTAC) efforts and directing operational support for the United States Secret Service during visits by high‑level elected officials, including the President of the United States.

As the senior leader of the Special Events Division, Chief DePue provides organizational direction, executive guidance, and strategic vision—ensuring alignment with Clark County Fire Department priorities and long‑range public safety objectives.

Outside of work, Steve and his wife, Nicole, enjoy traveling, spending time with their dogs, and relaxing at their cabin with family and friends.
