Creech Air Force Base

Indian Springs, Clark County, Nevada, 89018, United States

Opened in 1942

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Creech Air Force Base was established near Indian Springs in 1942 as a satellite training field for Nellis Air Force Base, then known as Las Vegas Army Air Field. Creech supported training, testing, and operations across the Nevada desert, including missions linked to the Nellis Test and Training Range.

Named after General Wilbur L. Creech, Creech Air Force Base evolved into the Air Force’s premier remotely piloted aircraft hub. Both Creech and Nellis Air Force Base represent Clark County’s lasting contribution to the United States airpower, innovation, and national defense.

  • Namesake of Creech Air Force Base, General Wilbur L. Creech was a highly decorated U.S. Air Force officer who served as commander of Tactical Air Command beginning in 1978. He oversaw major combat and training forces across bases worldwide. The U.S. Air Force officially renamed Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field to Creech Air Force Base on June 20, 2005 to commemorate his achievements.
