Women of Clark County

Empowered, a collaboration between the Department of Clark County Parks and Recreation's Clark County Museum and Public Arts Office, celebrates the ways that women have contributed to and forever changed Clark County. Made up of desert valleys, mountain ranges, and the world-famous city of Las Vegas, Clark County is home to many remarkable women-women who have shaped the political, economic, environmental, social, and cultural landscape of the county and of southern Nevada. Despite facing many challenges, these trailblazers seized new opportunities, advocated for change, fought for greater rights, and improved the lives of those in their communities.

We invite you to get to know these remarkable women. You'll discover leaders in aviation, education, and business. The women featured here have built communities, led strikes for better wages, organized demonstrations, secured environmental protections, and dismantled racial barriers. Their work and legacies touch all aspects of life in Clark County.

This project is a partnership between the Department of Clark County Parks and Recreation's Clark County Museum and Public Arts Office. It was commissioned and funded by the Board of County Commission through the County Arts Plan.
