Women of Clark County
Lynette Perez
1963 -
In 1999, Lynette Perez (Boggs McDonald) was elected to the Las Vegas City Council, becoming the first Black woman to hold this role. She later served on the Clark County Commission. In 2006, during her reelection campaign for the County Commission, photographs showed her seemingly living outside of her district. As a result of the scandal, she lost her reelection campaign. In 2007, she faced charges for perjury and filing false documents related to where she lived. Perez went on to graduate from law school and today serves as the chief deputy city attorney in Little Rock, Arkansas.
