Women of Clark County

Mary Kincaid-Chauncey

1938 -

Mary Kincaid-Chauncey served on the North Las Vegas City Council and the Clark County Commission. Her political career came to an end when she was implicated in “Operation G-Sting.” Kincaid-Chauncey served on the North Las Vegas City Council from 1978 to 1981 and again from 1984 to 1996. In 1979, she and her husband, David Kincaid, opened a flower shop in North Las Vegas.

Kincaid-Chauncey ran for a seat on the Clark County Commission in 1996, which she won. She successfully campaigned for reelection in 2000. During her second term on the County Commission, evidence revealed that Kincaid-Chauncey had accepted bribes from Michael Galardi, a strip club owner, in return for votes that supported his business interests. Despite this, Kincaid-Chauncey did not give up her seat and even sought reelection, which she lost. After being found guilty of conspiracy, wire fraud, and extortion, Kincaid-Chauncey received a sentence of thirty months in prison.
