Mayme Stocker
1875 - 1972
Mayme Stocker, recognized as the first woman to receive a casino gaming license in 1931, moved to Las Vegas with her husband, Oscar, and their children. The family had followed Oscar's railroad jobs around the county before settling in Las Vegas. In 1920, Stocker opened the Northern Club on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, which she later operated with her sons.
