Join us at Winchester Dondero Cultural Center as we celebrate Juneteenth 2026 with poetry, music, and community. This event will be hosted by none other than our Clark County Poet Laureate Ashley "Ms. AyeVee" Vargas and feature the poetic stylings of local poets AA Monet, Mercedes Kerr, and Q. We will also be treated to a musical performance by R&B artist Scorpio! Attendees will also be treated to a reception following the program featuring mocktails, small bites, and good vibes. This event is free and open to all ages.

This curated journey showcases the enduring legacy of cotillions, highlighting the influential roles of Les Femmes Douze and Alpha Kappa Alpha-sponsored events in shaping cultural tradition. The evening will feature a special Juneteenth address and lecture by Dr. Nikita Y. Harris, renowned cotillion historian and exhibit curator, offering insightful perspectives on the significance of cotillions in African American history. Join us in celebrating tradition, culture, and community.

Select pieces from the “African American Cotillions: History, Culture & Traditions” exhibit will be on display, offering a unique opportunity to experience the elegance and legacy of these community celebrations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view select items from the exhibit, offering a glimpse into the elegance, sisterhood, and cultural legacy celebrated through these iconic events.
