Artist Teams - Catherine Borg, T.R. Witcher

Catherine Borg is a visual artist, curator, arts administrator and educator. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she recently relocated to Baltimore, MD from Las Vegas, Nevada. Her artistic works examine cultural narratives as embodied in architecture. Exhibition venues that have presented her work include Galeria Grita Insam in Vienna, Austria and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and her work has been exhibited in California, Nevada, New Jersey, and New York City. She has realized public art projects for the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission, the City of Las Vegas and Scottsdale Public Art. Awards include residency fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and the Jentel Foundation and an Artist Fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council. She holds a BA in broadcasting from San Francisco State University and an MFA in visual arts from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.

Self-Tending II / Back to the Future

Self-Tending II / Back to the Future incorporates the form of a truncated pyramid as a tent, a translucent architecture that references shifting realities and expectations. 

A graduate of the University of Missouri and the University of Chicago, T.R. Witcher has worked as a journalist for more than 15 years, mostly in the alternative weekly press. He’s been a staff writer at Westword (in Denver) and at the Kansas City Pitch. He’s also served as associate editor at Las Vegas Life magazine and Las Vegas Weekly. His work has appeared in a variety of publications, including TIME, Crain’s Chicago Business, Black Enterprise, Vegas Seven, Architecture Las Vegas, American Legacy, Drill and Desert Companion. He’s won six awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Western Publishing Association.
