David Sanchez Burr
January 28-March 22, 2013 Artist David Sanchez Burr’s Rotunda Gallery installation references the historical significance of Southern Nevada with an emphasis on mining and geography. The artist is particularly interested in notions of community, often exploring the desert as a potential site of utopia or dystopia, dependent on man’s relationship to the landscape, technology and other human beings.
Extracting ideas from his ongoing Sunrise Mountain research, the artist presents sculptural works that are interactive and transformative using forces such as gravitational decay, vibration, sound, and audience participation.
