An artist reception with a performance by the artist will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22.

"Rhythym, Line and Stroke" is a collection of drawings and paintings by Cristina Paulos, focusing on the human form. The exhibit will be on view from Tuesday, August 19 through Friday, July 10, 2014 at the Winchester Cultural Center Gallery, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, just north of Desert Inn Road. A reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22.

Paulos’ artworks incorporate a variety of techniques and materials. Using life models for this entire series, Paulos continues her creative philosophy of capturing and revealing human flaws, discomforts and vulnerabilities. The application of media like Sumi ink, fabric dye and powdered graphite on the delicate surfaces of handmade papers and newsprint create expressive mark-making, and can be somewhat uncontrollable. The combination of these materials brings about variable results, which mirror what the artist calls "the organic foundations of humanness."

The exhibition will have two components. Studies of the male figure will be exhibited at the Winchester Cultural Center Gallery, while works focusing on the female form will be featured at TastySpace Gallery from August 25 to October 3. TastySpace is located on the first floor of the Emergency Arts building, 520 Fremont St., Las Vegas, NV.
