Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - Friday, August 19, 2016
Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89121
Artist reception on Friday, July 8 from 5:30-7:30pm
Eric Vozzola's new body of work, "A Visual Language," consists of paintings both large and small, including works on found materials, canvas and painted installations that activate the gallery space in multiple layers.
"A Visual Language" will feature artworks with colorful, patterned, surreal and contrasting compositions. Vozzola thinks of his work as a connection to ancient storytelling, such as wall drawings, hunting map carvings, hieroglyphs and other forms of archaic visual communication which leave behind not only an aesthetic but a language unique to the artist.
"This exhibit demonstrates the idea that human touch in the creation of visual art is transformative for an object, a wall, a building - any surface, really - creating ephemeral relics that capture time," says Vozzola. "Once painted, objects and surfaces that were once untouched or barren begin a new lifespan - enabled to last forever, or only for a short moment in time."
Eric Vozzola received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and works both as a graphic designer and fine artist. Vozzola has exhibited in local solo and group shows, including, most recently Chromazone, N-Site Studios, Artists Who Took Over Maryland Parkway, Nevada Humanities Gallery, Greetings and Cards, The Bakery, 25th Annual Juried Show, Contemporary Arts Center, *Based On Real Life (Solo), Fifth Wall Gallery. Vozzola has multiple public art pieces in Las Vegas, including a full building mural with the Cultural Corridor Coalition and City of Las Vegas, a mural for the Art Motel at Life Is Beautiful Festival, utility box beautification for ZAP7 with Clark County, and private murals for locally owned small businesses.
