Inkwell Poetry is excited to announce our July mentor Sammi Walker and her workshop “CLICHES!: The Courage to Play with Your Words!.”
In this workshop we will be exploring cliches and how we can take these familiar ideas and phrases and instead of avoiding them all together we will look at why they are important and what they bring to the reader or listener. Using different writing exercises, we will turn the cliches on their head. Whether it's adding to them or taking things away or even mashing two together to make something new entirely! We will also be talking about why it's important to spice up your writing and different ways you can play with language to bring something new to the table.
All ages and skill levels welcome.
The presentation and workshop will be complimented by a Q&A segment where attendees can ask Walker questions about the topics covered as well as receive feedback on their own writing throughout the workshop. Announcements of Clark County current and future opportunities, events, and services will close out the workshop. Attendees will receive a copy of the announcements through email. This workshop will be recorded.
