Mission Statement

The mission of the Clark County Special Public Defender is to provide vigorous, high quality, and comprehensive ethical representation in cases where the Public Defender has conflict of interest.

About Our Office

F. Virginia Eichacker was appointed the Special Public Defender in March 2024. Virginia graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1992. She began her legal career in Las Vegas working as a judicial law clerk in the Eighth Judicial District Court. Following her clerkship, Virginia started practicing law at the Clark County Public Defender’s Office (CCPD). She spent 30 years in the CCPD handling cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex sex offense and capital murder cases. Virginia has been active in community outreach efforts to secure vital resources for clients in furtherance of a holistic approach to client representation. Most recently, she served as co-chair of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council’s Domestic Violence Sub-Committee.

The attorneys who work with our office provide specialized representation in complex cases and are assisted by investigators, mitigation specialists, and other support staff. Our appellate team handles appeals and writs before the Nevada Court of Appeals and Nevada Supreme Court.
