Laura Fitzpatrick was appointed County Treasurer by the Clark County Board of Commissioners in March 1998 to fill a vacancy in that position. In November of that same year, she was elected to her first four-year term. As Treasurer and Ex-Officio Tax Receiver, her responsibilities include the billing, collection, and distribution of real property taxes. They also include the receipting and disbursement of all county revenues, and the management of the county's banking services and investment portfolios.
Laura is a CPA and has over 20 years of high-level experience in the area of accounting and public finance. Before becoming County Treasurer, she was with the Las Vegas office of Deloitte & Touche. In addition to her background in public accounting (both at Deloitte & Touche and previously at Ernst & Whinney), she served as Deputy State Treasurer for the state of Michigan, and was the Director of Intergovernmental Relations for The Bond Market Association in Washington, D.C.
Laura is a member of the Nevada County Fiscal Officers Association, Nevada Society of CPAs, and the Government Investment Officers Association, as well as other professional organizations. She was a two-term board member of the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada. She is a past president of the Las Vegas Fremont Rotary.
Laura is a native Texan and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ken Diaz was appointed Assistant County Treasurer in September 2018 by Laura B. Fitzpatrick, Clark County Treasurer. He began his 20+ years in public service stationed locally at Nellis Air Force Base. In 2004, he joined Clark County working in the Budget Department and then Internal Audit. In 2016, he accepted the Manager of Treasury Services position in the Treasurer’s Office.
Ken moved to Las Vegas in the 1970’s graduating from Ed W. Clark High School, and attained both his Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Ken is a CPA and has many years of high-level experience in the areas of accounting and auditing. Before joining Clark County, he worked in the Las Vegas office of Deloitte & Touche and was an Accounting Manager with Nevada Power Company.
