Motorists should be prepared for traffic delays and detours as crews conduct overnight work associated with the ongoing installation of upgraded LED lighting in the Desert Inn Road Tunnel.
- The eastbound lanes of Desert Inn Rd. from Valley View Blvd. to Paradise Rd. will be closed from 9 p.m. on Jan. 19 to 5 a.m. on Jan. 20.
- The westbound lanes of Desert Inn Rd. from Paradise Rd. to Valley View Blvd. will be closed from 9 p.m. on Jan. 20 to 5 a.m. on Jan. 21.
Traffic will be detoured to Spring Mountain Rd. during these times. All frontage road businesses and residential access along Desert Inn Rd. will be maintained, but access through the Desert Inn Road Tunnel will be closed to all traffic.
The $9.2 million Desert Inn Road Tunnel LED Upgrades and Road Improvements project includes LED upgrades to the lighting in the Desert Inn Road Tunnel and other improvements in the area, such as the removal and replacement of barrier rail, roadway rehabilitation and the installation of a pedestrian flasher on Convention Center at Channel 8 Drive.
Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through work zones and take alternate routes when possible. Due to the fluid nature of roadwork, the public is reminded that construction schedules and travel impacts can change on short notice, and they are advised to check navigation apps such as Waze, Google Maps or Apple Maps for real-time information.
