LAS VEGAS – Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Clark County, and the Las Vegas area Justice Courts – Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas – announce the expansion of the Eviction Diversion Program (EDP) beginning February 2, 2026.
EDP was originally launched as a pilot in the Las Vegas Justice Court. EDP has provided critical support to eligible tenants and landlords by connecting them with resources aimed at preventing unnecessary displacement and promoting housing stability. With a proven track record, the 2025 Nevada Legislature appropriated additional funding in AB475 to support and expand EDP. Beginning February 2, 2026, with our partners - Clark County Social Services, Legal Aid of Southern Nevada, the Courts, and landlords – we are expanding EDP to the Henderson and North Las Vegas Justice Courts. Together, we have created a first-of-its-kind program to stop needless evictions of seniors and people with disabilities, securing a multi-million appropriation from the Nevada Legislature. Through this partnership, individuals facing eviction are now evaluated for long-term solutions to housing instability. Eligible tenants and landlords will receive rental assistance while working with Clark County Social Services, and a Legal Aid Center lawyer will represent the tenants. The success rate is close to 90%. That means fewer people become homeless.
As part of this regional expansion, new eviction forms are available on the Civil Law Self-Help Center website. These forms will be used in the Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas Justice Courts and will ensure uniformity and accessibility in the filing process.
The EDP covers seniors age 62 years or older and those receiving SSI benefits due to a disability. To qualify applicants must be facing an eviction for non-payment of rent and must file a tenant answer within the notice period.
