Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft will host a special ceremony at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign on Feb. 11, at 9 a.m. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. The iconic landmark will be illuminated in red, white and blue to honor this historic milestone and the enduring principles upon which the nation was founded.

“The America 250 celebration is a reminder of the resilience and civic spirit that define our nation, said Commissioner Naft. “As we shine Clark County’s most iconic light in red, white, and blue, we recognize not only our last 250 years but the promise of a brighter future.”

“There's no better way to kick off the America 250 celebration in Southern Nevada than lighting the Welcome to Las Vegas sign Red, White and Blue,” said Ida Zeiler, America 250 Southern Nevada coordinator. “It's an honor to represent Clark County as we celebrate our nation's independence. Thank you to Chair Michael Naft and county staff for helping make this day a reality.”

The ceremony will feature approximately 20 volunteers dressed in authentic 1776 attire, bringing history to life as the community reflects upon the nation's founding. The ceremony will recognize the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Children of the American Revolution, whose members preserve the legacy of America's founding through historical preservation and education.
