Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, in partnership with Shoes That Fit and Foster Kinship, brought together community partners and volunteers to provide 1,200 new pairs of athletic shoes to children in foster and kinship care at Desert Breeze Community Center.
More than 150 volunteers from various employers and community groups supported the event on Saturday, helping ensure children — along with their siblings — received properly fitting shoes in a welcoming, family-centered environment.
“Every child deserves to feel confident, supported, and ready to succeed,” said Commissioner Jones. “This event is about showing foster families in our community that they are seen, valued, and supported.”
The event featured shoe fittings, family activities, and community resources, reinforcing a broader commitment to supporting foster youth across Clark County.
“At Shoes That Fit, we believe every child deserves the chance to move forward with confidence,” said Amy Fass, CEO/Executive Director of Shoes That Fit. “A new pair of properly fitting, brand-name athletic shoes doesn’t just protect growing feet; it helps children participate in organized sports and recess, stay active and healthy, and walk into school feeling proud instead of self-conscious. Our continued partnership with Clark County Commissioner’s Office ensures that children in Clark County have what they need to learn, play and thrive.”
Through this collaborative effort, organizers ensured that every participating foster family — including siblings in the home — received support, expanding the impact beyond individual children.
