Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II hosted his annual Spring Egg Hunt and Caregiver Resource Fair on Friday, April 3 at the Dr. William U. Pearson Community Center, bringing together nearly 1,000 children and caregivers for a day of activities and support services. The event created a welcoming space for foster, relative, and kinship families to connect, learn, and celebrate together.

Children participated in games, an egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny, along with appearances from community partners including Star Wars Collective, Critical Care Comics, Heroes and Fairytales Las Vegas, and Real Dinosaurs.

“While this event is a special treat for the youth in foster care, it’s really about strengthening the support network for the families who open their homes to children in need,” said Commissioner McCurdy II. “Caregivers play a vital role, and this resource fair helps ensure they have the tools and connections necessary to help every child thrive.”

Caregivers connected with nearly 50 local resource providers offering programs focused on child development, economic and emotional supports, and respite care. Those who visited 20 or more organizations received incentives, including passes to Cowabunga Vegas Waterparks, tickets to the Family-to-Family Connection’s Touch-A-Truck event, or gift cards from RennerVation Foundation.

Clark County Family Services also highlighted its newly launched Caregiver Support webpage, which provides access to resources, policies, and best practices to help caregivers navigate challenges such as rising costs and complex developmental needs. The effort aims to improve outcomes, including placement stability and provider retention.

The need for foster caregivers remains urgent. On most days, about 75 children are living at Child Haven, the County’s emergency shelter, awaiting placement of supportive homes. Many children are part of larger sibling groups, and some are neurodivergent with special needs. For more information about fostering in Clark County, visit clarkcountyfostercare.com.
