Film lovers and community members are invited to celebrate the next generation of storytellers on Friday, June 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Winchester Dondero Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.
This special event features a professionally produced screening of short films by local student filmmakers, offering participants a rare opportunity to present their work in a formal showcase. Designed to spotlight local talent, the event creates a welcoming space for students, families, educators, and the broader film community to come together in support of emerging voices in cinema.
An open call for filmmakers is currently underway. Eligibility is limited to currently enrolled high school students (Grades 9–12) and currently enrolled college students residing in Clark County. Filmmakers must be 13 years of age or older. Applications for filmmakers under 18 must include parent or guardian consent and contact information. All submissions must be received by Thursday, April 23, at 11:59 p.m. via www.FilmFreeway.com.
The showcase is presented through a collaborative partnership between Winchester, Film Nevada, Arecibo Films, and the Nevada Arts Council, strengthening connections across arts, education, and the local film industry. By fostering collaboration and community engagement, the event aims to inspire creativity and encourage continued growth within Nevada’s film scene.
The Short Notice Film Showcase: Student Edition is a must-see event for film enthusiasts, educators, and anyone interested in supporting young creatives and local storytelling.
