Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft will host a special ceremony at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign on Wednesday, April 29, at 8:30 a.m. to mark the sixth annual Clark County Youth Law Awareness Day and celebrate National Law Day, observed May 1. The iconic landmark will be illuminated in blue and green to honor the day’s mission of empowering young Nevadans with the legal knowledge they need to make safe, informed decisions.
“Clark County is proud to support Project REAL and their work helping students understand the law and their rights,” said Chairman Naft. “When young people understand the law — and how quickly a careless choice can turn into a serious consequence — they’re better equipped to protect themselves and their futures. By shining Clark County’s brightest light for Youth Law Awareness Day, we are visibly committing to the education and wellbeing of our next generation.”
“Every year there’s something new showing up in kids’ feeds that can land them in real trouble,” said Mike Kamer, Executive Director of Project REAL. “REALReady is about helping them recognize when a moment of curiosity, peer pressure, or a viral dare could lead somewhere they never intended. When young people understand how the law actually works, they’re far more likely to make choices that keep them safe and on track.”
The ceremony marks the third consecutive year Clark County has illuminated the sign in recognition of Youth Law Awareness Day. Blue represents the rule of law, while green symbolizes youth readiness to make thoughtful decisions and avoid preventable legal trouble.
Since 2005, Project REAL has provided free educational experiences—including courthouse field trips, classroom visits and learning guides—to more than 250,000 students across Nevada.
