Clark County Office of Public Arts invites artists to submit work for Juneteenth: Freedom Moves, a juried group exhibition at the Pearson Community Center Gallery. Eligibility is open to artists aged eight and up residing in Clark County. Artists under 18 must include consent from a parent or guardian. All original media accepted, including digital art, photography, and printmaking. The deadline for submittal is Sunday, May 10, at 11:59 p.m., and can be done at https://clarkcountynvpublicarts.submittable.com/submit.

Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, creativity, and cultural contributions of Black communities across generations. The day carries a history of emancipation while continuing to live through memory, cultural expression, and collective action. Observed through gatherings, music, dance, storytelling, and art, Juneteenth holds a living record of movement toward self-determination and possibility.

Freedom Moves centers movement as both subject and method. Movement unfolds through the body in gesture, rhythm, and performance. It gathers through communities organizing, migrating, and reshaping shared space. It shifts through emotion and imagination, carrying moments that transform how we understand one another and ourselves. This exhibition welcomes work that traces how freedom moves across bodies, histories, cultures, and futures.

Awards include a $300 Desert Art Supplies gift certificate for Best in Show and two $150 Desert Art Supplies gift certificates for Honorable Mentions.

Artists are encouraged to review the full submission requirements, including artwork preparation guidelines and content policies, prior to applying.

Visit the Pearson Community Center Gallery at 1625 West Carel Avenue between June 2 and July 23, 2006, to view the Freedom Moves exhibition.
