Clark County Public Arts is seeking four artists to participate in a mentorship program to create a temporary public art installation. Applications must be completed and submitted by Sunday, June 29, at 11:59 p.m. Selected artists will work with youth at Clark County recreation and cultural facilities to generate work for a three-dimensional art installation to be situated at the facility.
Each artist is expected to run two workshops and complete a three-dimensional public work using youth art from the workshops that will be exhibited at two facilities. Artists will create a concept and proposal for the project and lesson plan and will meet with County staff to discuss classroom and installation logistics. The goal is to create a professional and thoughtful traveling temporary public art installation with elements created by the children enrolled in the program.
The program budget is $3,000 for each artist. Through this experience, they will gain experience in workshop facilitation, deepen their community engagement abilities, gain project management skills, and discover how to safeguard their artistic creativity and vision while navigating the requirements of the public processes.
Artists will be selected competitively and juried by community members and facility supervisors. Applicants will submit images of past work, experience, and a letter of interest in the program. Semi-finalists will be invited for video interviews. Artists must apply through Submittable at https://clarkcountynvpublicarts.submittable.com/ before the application deadline.
