Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft will announce the completion of a brand-new, 3.1-mile multi-use trail loop at James Regional Sports Park located at 8400 W Robindale Road, on Wednesday, June 10, at 10 a.m. Spanning the perimeter of the premier 107-acre sports facility in the Southwest Valley, the newly constructed trail is designed to promote healthy lifestyles and offer residents an accessible outdoor space to gather and exercise.

The project features an innovative, dual-surface design engineered to accommodate a wide variety of users simultaneously. The trail is divided into two distinct parallel paths, featuring a 10-foot-wide paved asphalt side that is perfect for cyclists, parents pushing strollers, rollerbladers, and walkers looking for a smooth, even surface. Running right alongside it is a 5-foot-wide compacted Decomposed Granite side tailored specifically for runners and joggers seeking a softer, low-impact surface that is gentler on the joints.

“Clark County is committed to making our transportation network safer and more accessible for every road user — whether you’re walking, running, biking, pushing a stroller, or simply enjoying the outdoors,” said Commissioner Michael Naft, Chair of the Clark County Commission. “This new 5K loop at James Regional Sports Park gives residents a dedicated space to exercise and stay active without having to cross major roadways, creating a safer and more comfortable experience for everyone using the trail.”

“It is fantastic that James Regional Sports Park has tunnels now to allow 5K races to be a single loop that’s easy to follow,” said Kate McLaughlin, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Las Vegas. “As a runner, I have run convoluted courses that cross streets and it is such a distraction from the fun of the race. A clean, safe course is such a gift. Girls on the Run Las Vegas is thrilled to be hosting our first annual Girl Power 5K/10K here on October 3, 2026.”

The 3.1-mile distance mirrors a traditional 5K run, making it a perfect loop for local fitness enthusiasts to track their training progress. To maximize safety and accessibility, the trail project work was coordinated with Clark County Public Works’ recent infrastructure upgrades along Robindale Road to include two tunnels under Robindale Road between Durango Drive and Buffalo Drive. These under crossings at the eastern and western ends of the trail loop seamlessly connect nearby residential developments directly to the park's existing amenities, including its tournament soccer fields, splash pad, and inclusive playground.

The new multi-use trail is fully complete and open to the public during normal park hours, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Community members are encouraged to lace up their sneakers and grab their bicycles to explore the new loop this week.

James Regional Sports Park is a premier 107-acre recreational facility featuring 16 tournament-quality soccer fields, a universally accessible all-inclusive playground, a splash pad, walking paths, and expansive green spaces designed to serve the recreation needs of Southern Nevada residents and sports tournament visitors alike.
