Nevada Task Force 1 (NV-TF1) is deploying to Texas Tuesday evening to assist with search and rescue and recovery operations in flood-ravaged Kerr County.
The 47-person team includes emergency responders from local jurisdictions and agencies and four K9s, and is part of NV-TF1, Nevada’s only Urban Search and Rescue Team. Personnel include paramedics, communications specialists, a structural engineer, logistics technicians and a medical doctor.
The Clark County Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for NV-TF1. The team is comprised of members from the Clark County Fire Department, Boulder City Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Henderson Fire Department, and North Las Vegas Fire Department, as well as members from multiple other disciplines. Task force teams are deployed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to respond to emergencies across the United States. The team received mobilization orders this afternoon from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and is expected to arrive in San Antonio, Texas, by Wednesday evening for assignment in Kerr County where catastrophic flooding occurred over July 4th weekend. FEMA pays the costs associated with task force deployments.
The task force’s caravan to Texas includes pickup trucks, 18-wheelers and support vehicles loaded with gear and equipment.
