Starting Sunday, Aug. 10, traffic on Maryland Parkway from south of Desert Inn Road to just north of the Sunrise Hospital Main Entrance will be reduced to one lane in each direction as crews work to demolish a 50-year-old pedestrian bridge over the roadway. The bridge is in need of major repairs, and pedestrian use of the bridge has diminished significantly over the years.
The following lane changes will be made to allow for cranes and other heavy equipment to access the area and do the demolition work:
Sunday, Aug. 10 at 9 p.m. to Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 5 a.m.
- All traffic will be pushed to the west side of Maryland Parkway.
- One lane of traffic will be open in each direction, north and south, on Maryland Parkway.
Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 5 a.m. to Friday, Aug. 15 at 5 a.m.
- All traffic will be pushed to the east side of Maryland Parkway.
- One lane of traffic will be open in each direction, north and south, on Maryland Parkway.
Access to the Sunrise Hospital Main Entrance, Sunrise Children’s Hospital and other local businesses in the area will be maintained. Drivers should expect delays in the area, especially as increased traffic is expected with the start of the Clark County School District and University of Nevada Las Vegas school year. The recommended detour around the work area is Eastern Avenue or University Center Drive. The free Waze app is available for download and can assist with planning your route.
