Clark County is now accepting applications for the Business Development Advisory Council (BDAC), a volunteer body that advises the Clark County Board of Commissioners on ways to expand opportunity for small, women-, minority- and veteran-owned businesses.

The application period opens today and closes at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2. Applications will be available on the County's Boards and Commissions page once the recruitment period begins.

BDAC members are qualified volunteers selected by the Board of County Commissioners to serve two-year terms, with the option to serve consecutive terms through a competitive application process. The Council meets every-other month, in-person at the discretion of its chairperson, but no less than once per quarter.

Members and alternates work to support the growth of disadvantaged businesses Countywide by taking part in small-business outreach and community events, helping coordinate the annual Small Business Opportunity Program mixer, and promoting equal-business-opportunity programs. The Council also studies and advises the County on ways to improve access to business resources and maintains contacts with agencies that support local, small, women-, minority- and veteran-owned enterprises.

“BDAC gives our small-business community a direct voice in shaping the programs and policies that help them grow,” said Shani Coleman, director of the Clark County Office of Community and Economic Development. “We're looking for volunteers who are ready to roll up their sleeves and help us expand opportunity for entrepreneurs across the valley.”

Applicants must submit a resume and a letter of interest along with their application. Completed applications and accompanying materials become public record once received by Clark County.
