Clark County is warning customers of the Comprehensive Planning Department about fraudulent emails requesting payment for planning applications and related services.

The phishing emails may appear to contain legitimate project or application information and instruct recipients to review an invoice or request payment instructions. Some of the fraudulent messages have been sent from an email address using the “@usa.com” domain. Below is an example of the fraudulent phishing message:

Customers should not click links, open attachments, provide payment information or respond to suspicious messages.

Legitimate invoices and other correspondence from Clark County will:

• Come from an email address ending in “@ClarkCountyNV.gov.”
• Include the Planning employee with whom the customer has been working.
• Contain specific information consistent with the customer’s application or project.

Anyone who receives a suspicious message claiming to be from Clark County Comprehensive Planning should contact the Department before taking further action. Customers may call (702) 455-5616 or email CPAdmin@ClarkCountyNV.gov to verify whether a message or invoice is legitimate.

Customers who may have provided personal or financial information in response to a fraudulent message should immediately contact their financial institution and report the incident to the appropriate authorities.
