Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), Clark County Fire Department (CCFD), and the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP), invites the community to "The Great American Kickoff" on Saturday, September 12, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Desert Breeze Ballfields, located at 8275 Spring Mountain Rd.

This free, family-friendly event brings local leaders, first responders, veterans, and residents together for an afternoon of community connection, friendly competition, and solemn remembrance. Attendees can enjoy a competitive kickball tournament and a barbecue grill-off featuring teams from Clark County, LVMPD, CCFD, and VAREP, alongside a car show displaying more than 60 classic and custom vehicles.

The event will also feature a brief tribute ceremony starting at 4 p.m. recognizing the 25th anniversary of September 11, complete with a moment of silence honoring Austin Abdelnabi, the LVMPD officer who tragically lost his life on August 4. Honor guards from LVMPD, Marine and Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) will participate in the ceremony to pay tribute to fallen heroes and service members. Kickball Tournament, Grill Off and Event Festivities will begin at 4:30pm.

"The Great American Kickoff brings our community together to celebrate unity, support our veterans and first responders, and honor those who have sacrificed for our safety," said Commissioner Jones. "We welcome families from across the valley to join us for an afternoon of camaraderie and tribute."

Spanning more than 240 acres in western Clark County, Desert Breeze Park features a community center, indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, a skate park, dog parks, walking trails, and expansive open green space. The park recently underwent a major expansion featuring brand-new, regulation baseball fields alongside the newly dedicated Mike Aker Adaptive Field—Nevada’s first publicly run adaptive baseball field, specifically designed to serve athletes with physical and cognitive disabilities.
