More than 600 people joined Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, LVMPD, the Clark County Fire Department and the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP) for The Great American Kickoff at the new Desert Breeze Ballfields.

The free, family-friendly event brought all four organizations together for a spirited Kickball Tournament and Grill-Off. CCFD swept the competition, earning championship titles in both events.

The evening began with a special ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Aiyana Castro and Creating a Giving Culture brought students from across the valley together to create a Remembrance Wall. Since today’s students were not alive when 9/11 occurred, the project allowed them to learn about its significance and write messages honoring the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call.

“The Great American Kickoff was about bringing our community together while honoring the heroes and lives forever impacted by September 11,” said Commissioner Jones. “We are grateful to every organization, student, vendor and family who helped make this event so meaningful—and congratulations to CCFD for taking home both championships!”

The event also featured more than 30 community partners, multiple local car groups, an RTC bus and Clark County vehicles as part of the car show. Attendees enjoyed music, food, face painting, games, raffles, activities and plenty of friendly competition throughout the evening.

Commissioner Jones extends his heartfelt appreciation to LVMPD, CCFD, VAREP, Creating a Giving Culture, the participating students, community partners, car groups, volunteers and every family who joined the celebration. The Great American Kickoff was more than a competition—it was a powerful reminder of what can happen when first responders, veterans, local organizations and families come together as one community to honor the past, celebrate the present and build a stronger future.
