Clark County Commissioners Tick Segerblom and William McCurdy II, in partnership with Clark County Public Arts, will host a reception Sept. 24 celebrating “Caminando por las Américas” (“Walking Through the Americas”), a juried art exhibition honoring Latino Heritage Month and the journeys of Latin American immigrants.

The reception will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition itself will be on display Aug. 31 through Sept. 24 and is free to view.

The exhibition was juried by Olmeca, an artist and UNLV professor, and features artwork and stories centered on the experiences of Latin American immigrants. The reception will include live cultural performances, music and visual art, along with free food while supplies last.

“Caminando por las Américas is a reflection of the journeys, sacrifices and contributions made by generations of Latino immigrants who have helped make Clark County the diverse and vibrant community it is today,” Commissioner Segerblom said. “I’m proud to help bring this exhibition to the Government Center for our community to experience.”

“Art has a way of connecting us to each other’s journeys,” Commissioner McCurdy said. “This exhibition, and this reception, is a celebration of the resilience and culture that Latino families bring to Clark County.”
