Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick is inviting the public to Go Purple during the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 6, featuring The Shade Tree, SafeNest and S.A.F.E. House, three Southern Nevada, all organizations that support survivors of domestic violence.

The three organizations will offer information and resources to victims of domestic violence and their families from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the hallway outside the Commission Chambers at the Clark County Government Center.

The Shade Tree and SafeNest provide shelter and services for people affected by domestic violence, while S.A.F.E. House offers support services for survivors.

“Domestic violence affects families in every part of our community, and no one should have to face it alone,” Commissioner Kirkpatrick said. “I'm grateful to The Shade Tree, SafeNest and S.A.F.E. House for helping survivors and their loved ones find safety and support. I encourage everyone to stop by the event on Oct. 6 for information and resources. If people can't make it, please reach out to these outstanding organizations.”

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. According to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Nevada law enforcement investigated 27,704 cases of domestic and elder violence in 2025. Residents can show support by wearing purple, sharing resources and connecting with local advocacy organizations.
