Nine months of treatment, accountability and hard work culminate Oct. 20 when the Las Vegas Justice Court celebrates the latest graduates of its Community Court Program. The ceremony, open to the public, begins at 2 p.m. in Assembly Room No. 2342 on the second floor of the Regional Justice Center, 200 Lewis Ave., Las Vegas.

The Community Court Treatment Program is designed to reduce recidivism and improve quality of life for participants by combining judicial supervision of low-level misdemeanor offenders with comprehensive support services. Through partnerships with nonprofit providers, government agencies, community groups, and justice partners, the program provides access to substance use treatment, education, employment opportunities, and medical and disability resources.

“Community Court represents the collaboration of many partners who are committed to helping individuals succeed while ensuring accountability,” said Chief Judge Melisa De La Garza, who oversees the program. “This graduation is an opportunity to celebrate the progress of participants who are taking meaningful steps toward recovery, stability, and independence.”
