Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft will host a special ceremony at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 8 a.m. with Roseman University College of Pharmacy to recognize National Pharmacy Week, observed Oct. 18-24. The iconic landmark will be illuminated in red to honor the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and student pharmacists who care for Southern Nevada communities.
“Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are often the most accessible members of a patient’s health care team, helping families across Southern Nevada understand their medications and stay healthy,” Chairman Naft said. “Lighting this landmark red is our way of thanking the professionals who serve our neighbors every day and the students preparing to follow them.”
“National Pharmacy Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who care for our neighbors every day,” said Larry Fannin, dean of the Roseman University College of Pharmacy. “At Roseman, we are proud to prepare future pharmacists to join them in serving our communities. I’m especially grateful to our students for choosing a profession built on knowledge, service, and a commitment to helping patients live healthier lives.”
Federal labor estimates count about 1,850 pharmacists and 3,480 pharmacy technicians working in Southern Nevada. Roseman University College of Pharmacy, Nevada’s first and only college of pharmacy, has graduated more than 3,200 pharmacists since welcoming its first students in 2001.
