Growing an “Urban Forest” to Combat the Urban Heat Island Effect

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, the Community Canopy Project is part of Clark County Environment & Sustainability’s Stay Cool Clark County initiative. The Community Canopy Project delivers more than 4,500 trees annually to Clark County residents to plant in their yards. Together, these trees help expand Clark County’s “urban forest,” providing much-needed shade for years to come, particularly in neighborhoods most affected by the urban heat island effect.

Now in its third year, the Community Canopy Project has given away nearly 9,000 trees to Southern Nevada residents…and counting.
