Delayed Shipment of COVID-19 Vaccine Arrives; Some First-Dose Shots Available This Week

The Southern Nevada Health District received its delayed shipment of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine this morning. Based on its current inventory of both first and second doses of the vaccine, the Health District will be opening up limited first dose appointments at Cashman Center for those who are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. The Cashman Center site will be open this week on Wednesday, February 24 through Saturday, February 27. Those currently eligible to receive the vaccine include people 65 years of age and older, health care workers, and those in public safety and security and frontline community support groups.

Health District and partner clinic sites were initially offering second dose appointments only this week due to delays in vaccine shipments caused by severe weather in other parts of the country. The arrival of today’s shipment of Moderna vaccine allows the Health District to expand its clinic capacity to first and second dose appointments. This week’s shipments of vaccine are expected later in the week.

Appointment scheduling for those eligible is available on the Health District website at https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/vaccine/distribution/. People with questions, or who need assistance making appointments, can call the COVID-19 helpline at 1-800-401-0946. The line is staffed seven days per week, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
