Family Resource Fair Nov. 20 at Whitney Recreation Center

Commissioner Jim Gibson, Assemblywoman Venicia Considine, and Senator Roberta Lange will provide a family resource fair at the Whitney Recreation Center located at 5712 East Missouri Avenue near Boulder Highway and Tropicana on Saturday, November 20, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

“Wellness at Whitney” is a community resource and wellness event displaying local businesses and organizations available to the residents of East Las Vegas.  Legal Aide Center of Southern Nevada will be onsite providing information and assistance for residents facing eviction.  The Las Vegas Culinary Academy will provide a food distribution service, and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will be available to sign youth up for library cards.  Make It Work Nevada will also be onsite providing information on affordable childcare, paid family leave, paid sick days, and pay equity for women of color.  Many more health and resource services will also be available. 

“Many residents in the East Valley are facing evictions and other difficult and challenging circumstances,” said Commissioner Gibson.  “Assemblywoman Considine, Senator Lange, and I want to help these residents by providing them resources in a ‘one-stop-shop.’” 

Complimentary coffee, juice and, muffins are available, and the Whitney Recreation Center staff will provide interactive games.
