Commissioner Hosting Public Discussion on Mental Health, Depression & Stress on May 23

            Commission Vice Chairman Lawrence Weekly is joining with the Silver State Community and Health Services for an open discussion about mental health issues including depression, suicide, stress and post-traumatic stress disorder to be held at 11 a.m. on May 23 at the Pearson Community Center at 1625 W. Carey Avenue.


            "Too often we overlook the importance of mental health issues and the effects they can have on our lives," Vice Chairman Weekly said. "This event will put a spotlight on mental health issues and give residents an opportunity to hear from experts in the field."


            The Commissioner's Chat & Chew Open Discussion will open to attendees at 11 a.m. with the discussion led by local mental health professionals beginning at 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be provided.


            The event is open to the public and free to attend, but anyone planning on attending is asked to RSVP at (702) 455-3540 so organizers will know how many attendees to expect.
