Child Haven Emergency Shelter
About Child Haven

Child Haven

Child Haven is the Clark County Family Services emergency shelter for babies, children, and teens in foster care. Child Haven serves as an interim shelter for children as Clark County Family Services works to identify an appropriate longer term placement option, such as a relative, kinship, or licensed foster family.

Child Haven staff provide children a nurturing environment and access to critical needs including medical, mental health, independent skills, educational assistance, and positive reinforcement.

There are different categories of volunteering at Child Haven:

  • Event-Based or As-Needed Volunteering: Perfect for those with limited flexibility. Event-based volunteers can come to volunteer when an event is available and open to all volunteers. Those who do event-based volunteering sometimes host their own events with other groups. Event or as-needed volunteers will need to complete a background check.
  • Regular Volunteering: Ideal for those who can commit to volunteering a few hours every week, for a minimum commitment of six months. Regular volunteers will need to complete a full background check, fingerprinting, and TB testing.

Child Haven Volunteer Inquiry

Child Haven processes new volunteers on an as-needed basis. If you would like to stay on file, please complete the Child Haven Volunteer Interest Form. Our staff will notify you when we have the need and openings for additional volunteers.

Otherwise, if you are looking for immediate volunteer opportunities, we encourage you to schedule a volunteer shift time at Peggy’s Attic or sign up for emails to volunteer at foster care events.

About Peggy’s Attic

Peggy’s Attic

Peggy's Attic is a compassionate community-driven donation center dedicated to supporting Clark County's most vulnerable children. Serving babies, children, and teenagers entering foster care through Clark County Family Services, Peggy's Attic provides essential care packages when children are placed into protective custody with few or no personal belongings.

Operating entirely through community generosity and public donations, Peggy's Attic supplies clothing, personal care items, and age-appropriate necessities for children ages 0-18. The center accepts gently used and new clothing, shoes, pajamas, personal care products, baby supplies including diapers and wipes.

Donate new or gently used items

Clark County Family Services does not receive funding for the critical services Peggy’s Attic provides. We rely solely on the generosity of community partners and general public to help supply these basic necessities. While we accept very gently used clothing and shoes for ages 0-18, we love getting NEW clothing, shoes, pajamas, personal care items, and baby care items, like diapers and wipes as well.

Donations must be scheduled in advance, during Peggy’s Attic business hours.
