8/12/2019 - County Accepting Applications for Community Development Block Grants

Applications to build capital improvement projects with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding will be accepted by Clark County starting August 12 with applications due on Friday, Oct. 11. A link to the CDBG program application is available on the County's Community Resources Management website page.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides block grants to state and local communities to benefit low and moderate income households and areas through the development of affordable housing, community facilities, economic development and other anti-poverty initiatives. Local non-profit organizations and government agencies serving eligible clientele and areas in the community are encouraged to submit proposals for capital improvement projects over the five-year period of July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2025.

Based on recent CDBG formula grants, Clark County estimates that approximately $28.4 million in funding for capital projects in the community will be available through the upcoming five-year plan.  Eligible funding categories include, but are not limited to, facilities that serve the homeless, disabled, elderly, abused children, battered spouses, and low/moderate income neighborhoods.

Projects funded during the 2015-2019 grant period included the Boulder Highway Collaborative Service Campus, Nevada Partners Workforce Development Center, Catholic Charities Food Facilities Consolidation and Expansion, Help of Southern Nevada Shannon West Homeless Youth Center, and improvements at several facilities serving low to moderate income areas in Clark County.
