Application Process
Clark County Sports and Special Events (SSE) is your initial point of contact for obtaining approval to host certain events within unincorporated Clark County. SSE provides preliminary approval and guidance on the necessary permits and licenses required.
Submission Window: Applications must be submitted at least 60 calendar days prior to your event date.
1. Verify Jurisdiction
Use the Jurisdiction Locator Tool to confirm your event takes places within unincorporated Clark County.
2. Check Permit Requirements
Review required permits based on your specific event type.
While SSE manages your primary application, you must obtain final licenses, permits, and inspection approvals from relevant departments, (e.g., Business License, Zoning, Parks and Recreation, Fire Department) and external agencies (e.g., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Southern Nevada Health District, Regional Transportation Commission).
3. Submit Application
Complete and submit the Special Events Application Online manually.
Note: If you prefer to use the AskClark virtual assistant instead, start here.
4. File Large Event Notification (If Applicable)
If your event expects 5,000 or more attendees per day, you must also complete the online Large Event Gathering Notification Form.
5. Application Review
SSE staff will review your submission and contact you for clarifications. For large events (5,000+ daily attendees), staff will cross-reference the calendar to ensure adequate county resources available. Track your application status by signing into the portal.
6. Liaison Assignment
An SSE team member will be assigned to your event to guide you through next steps and provide a checklist of required external agency approvals.
7. Board Approval (If Required)
If your event triggers specific criteria, you will be notified via email to appear at a public hearing before the Board of County Commissioners (BCC).
Your application will require a public hearing before the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) if any of the following conditions apply:
- Road Closures: Requires a full or partial closure of Las Vegas Boulevard.
- High Impact: Significantly impacts traffic and roadways as determined by the Director.
- Resource Heavy: Demands substantial resources from Clark County or external agencies (e.g., Police, Health District).
- Large Crowds: Projected attendance exceeds 15,000 participants or spectators at one time.
- Community Disruption: Potential to cause significant noise, disturbances, excessive loitering, or safety hazards.
- Multiple activation
- History of Non-Compliance: The Event Organizer or event history shows previous compliance issues.
- Discretionary Review: Any other reason deemed necessary by the Board.
Hearing Notice: SSE staff will notify you via email with the date, time, and venue of your scheduled hearing. Final approval or denial letters are emailed within 15 calendar days of the Board’s decision.
