Clark County is leveraging its middle-mile infrastructure to promote last-mile connectivity in high need areas, and is currently implementing a Proof of Concept/pilot program in collaboration with Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNRHA), Zayo, Arctiq, and ReadyLinks.

This Proof of Concept will help fund and operate a countywide open access network via a Public-Private Partnership with Zayo, to enable local Internet Service Providers to provide affordable broadband service to unserved and underserved Multi-Dwelling Units operated by SNRHA’s affordable housing program. The infrastructure is designed to support an open access framework optimized for delivery of high-speed internet over existing cabling within a building, allowing multiple ISPs to deliver service to individual residential units without duplicating physical networks or extensive rewiring.

Through this pilot program, the County seeks to test an innovative solution for providing high-speed broadband service to affordable housing locations, without significant remodeling or rewiring, with the end goal of increasing provider choice and reducing cost of service to residents. More information about this Proof of Concept/pilot program will be shared as it is being implemented.
