The Board today took action to invest another $20 million to finance the creation of attainable housing through its Welcome Home Community Housing Fund.
At Clark County, we are actively working to address the housing crunch our residents are experiencing and have continued to take historic steps to improve our attainable housing inventory,” said Michael Naft, Chair of the County Commission. “With these additional dollars, we are targeting those who are struggling the most to find an affordable place to live which includes working professionals, families, and seniors, and Clark County will continue to invest our dollars back into the community to make a meaningful impact.”
In response to the unprecedented crisis in housing affordability and availability, the Board of County Commissioners created the Welcome Home Community Housing Fund (CHF) in 2022. In October 2025, the County solicited qualified developers to submit applications for additional CHF funding to address the County’s critical need for affordable housing units at 50% of Area Median Income (AMI) and below. This funding round was open to qualified applicants who could reduce planned rents from 60-65% of AMI to 50% AMI and below, in order to meet the housing affordability needs of very low- to extremely low- income households in the Las Vegas Valley.
To qualify, applicants had to already have received a funding award from the County for an attainable housing development with units serving households at 60% AMI. Clark County staff received fourteen (14) proposals for additional project funding totaling over $26,825,000 in funding requests.
Staff recommended that (10) applications be funded totaling $20,000,000. Approval of these ten (10) awards supports the reduction of over 500 units from 60% AMI and above to 50% AMI. All units impacted by the reduction of AMI levels are new construction housing units for seniors and families.
