9-1-1 TELEPHONE SURCHARGE

Adoption of Ordinance

On January 20, 2026, the Clark County Board of County Commissioners adopted an ordinance imposing a surcharge on telephone access lines, trunk lines and mobile telephone numbers assigned to customers within Clark County, including the incorporated cities. The purpose of this surcharge is to provide funding for the enhancement of the County’s 911 emergency response system pursuant to the provisions in Nevada Revised Statutes 244A.7641 through 244A.7648.

9-1-1 Surcharge Fee and Remittance

Beginning April 1, 2026, the following surcharges are imposed on customers of telephone companies:

  1. Fifty cents (50¢) per month for each access line to the local exchange of a telecommunications provider, which will be increased annually on April 1 of each year by ten cents (10¢) up to the maximum of one dollar ($1.00).

  2. Five dollars ($5.00) per month for each trunk line to the local exchange of a telecommunications provider, which will increase annually on April 1 of each year by one dollar ($1.00) up to the maximum of ten dollars ($10.00).

  3. Fifty cents (50¢) per month for each telephone number assigned to a customer by a supplier of mobile telephone service with Clark County, which will be increased annually on April 1 of each year by ten cents (10¢) up to the maximum of one dollar ($1.00).

Each month the telephone company shall collect the surcharge from its customers and remit the surcharge to the County no later than the fifteenth (15th) day after the month in which the surcharge is received by the telephone company. The telephone company may retain an amount of the surcharge as an administrative fee which is equal to the cost to collect the surcharge. If payment is not remitted to the County within ninety (90) days of the date established for remittance, a penalty of five percent (5%) will be assessed.
