The Nellis Complex Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) is a cooperative planning effort between the Nellis Complex, surrounding jurisdictions, state and federal agencies, and other affected stakeholders that addresses compatible land use around Nellis Complex facilities. The Nellis Complex JLUS is funded by a grant from the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA). The JLUS effort can directly benefit both the military and surrounding region by:
- Promoting community planning that addresses compatibility issues;
- Enhancing communication and cooperation between the Nellis Complex and community officials;
- Protecting the health and safety of surrounding residents and workers; and
- Preserving land use compatibility between the Nellis complex and the surrounding communities over the long term.
