Interpretive Programs

Having difficulty with the online registration system? Call us at (702) 455-7522 to register by phone (payment not accepted by phone); come into the Nature Store, open Tuesday-Sunday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm; or complete this form and email it to: (do not send payment information by email). 

Tip: In Webtrac, the online registration system, if you see a gray paragraph describing the program without the date and time, click on it once to view dates and details. If you are viewing it as a table, click the little box on the left, then "Add to Cart." If you are on a screen with an "Add to Selection List" button, clicking that will allow you to add the program to your Cart. We can help you recover your username or reset your password if needed.

Discovery Walks

Join us in June, July, and August at the Nature Center. Come discover these misunderstood mammals and the important role they play!

Beaver Walk
Take a tour of known beaver areas at the Wetlands. Observe scent mounts, canals, downed trees and other evidence. How did they get here and where can they be found? Watch them work and play in their natural habitat!

The Road Less Traveled
Explore the habitats of the Mitigation Wetlands. Learn about the water system in relation to the Nature Preserve and the community benefits of this restored area. All ages.

Healing Power of Nature

Birding Walks
Birding Walks
Walk with a Wetlands Park nature guide and a birding expert from Red Rock Audubon Society. Each program begins and ends with an informal social gathering where the session’s topic is discussed and light refreshments are served. Great for beginners and more experienced birders! Ages 10+. Fee $5.

Art Programs for Teens & Adults


Visiting Artist Workshop
Habitats Collage with Artist Tracy P. Martin

Create a collage/mixed media piece on an 8x10 canvas that represents your own interpretation of a landscape from one of the five unique habitats in Wetlands Park. Participants will explore colors, textures, and shapes as they relate to that habitat/landscape. All materials provided. Ages 13+. Fee: $20

About the artist:
Tracy P. Martin has been an artist all of her life. She uses watercolor and acrylics to paint creative interpretations of landscape and animals. She also uses recycled materials to make sculptures and collages. In addition to being a commissioned artist, Tracy is a professional Rock Climbing Guide. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her experience working outside in nature and with various age groups has inspired her. This workshop is intended to invite participants to have fun being creative while getting to know Wetlands Park a little bit better. Tracy is from North Carolina, but has called Las Vegas home for 10 years. 

Snowflake Camp
Join Artist Bobbie Ann Howell for a Snowflake Camp. Learn to create beautiful nature themed paper snowflakes. 
Supplies provided by B.E.S.T. Arts 4 U Studio, with support from Nevada Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts. Ages 8+. Free, advance registration requested.

About the artist:
Works by Bobbie Ann Howell are on display  in the Spotlight on Nature Gallery located in the Wetlands Nature Center from September 6 through October 22, 2023 in a show titled "Friendly Pollinators: Free to Fly." Howell holds a Bachelor and Master's of Fine Arts and has been fine arts faculty at multiple universities. She has been a cultural center director, museum director and educator, curator, collection design and management, and is currently a program manager for Nevada Humanities. She creates her artwork and teaches workshops for a wide range of students from her studio, B.E.S.T. Arts 4 U, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her artworks are in public and private collections and exhibited and in regional and national exhibitions. In 2018 and 2023 she was awarded the Nevada Arts Council Visual Art Fellowship Award.

Wetlands Explorers
Wetlands Explorers
Wetlands Explorers is a program for tots to young readers, with age-appropriate activities for all participants. Young adventurers explore the Park and learn about plants and animals through fun activities. Wednesday activities are all outdoors; Saturday activities may include indoor activities and always feature outdoor exploration.

Ages 3-8. Parental participation required.
Fee: $5 per child. Program fee is discounted to $4 per child after three sessions per season.

Programming at Wetlands Park reflects our commitment to connecting people to nature. The unique and amazing resources of the Park are not only important to the residents and visitors in the Las Vegas Valley, but also to wildlife. Join us for one of our educational or recreational programs. Programs are offered to a variety of ages and interests.

Program fees help support continued Wetlands Park programming. Wetlands Park requests 48 hours notice of cancellation prior to start of class for refund of program fees.
