Maryland Parkway Fence Art is a project from Clark County Public Art where artists were hired to create semi-temporary artwork and install them on the chain-link fences that border the Tropicana Wash on Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road.
The Maryland Parkway Fence Art is in conjunction with the upcoming Bus Rapid Transit route project on Maryland Parkway. This project by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will include enhanced transit stations, dedicated lanes, upgraded pedestrian crossings, bike lanes, wider sidewalks, median landscaping, and public art. Artist Valentin Yordanov and art team Holly Lay and Homero Hidalgo were chosen to create transit-themed art to be installed on both sides of Maryland Parkway. Whether on foot or driving by, both installations gave a playful and colorful scene for the public to experience as they pass the Tropicana Wash.

Valentin Yordanov is a Bulgarian-born artist currently living in Las Vegas. Known for his colorful, geometric multi-layer compositions, he has shown his artwork around Clark County since 2011 including public art projects such as ZAP! And the Wetlands’ PLAY Installation.

Art Team Holly Lay and Homero Hidalgo are two local artists who currently run an artist studio space called Available Space Art Projects. Holly Lay is known for her fiber art and has shown her work through both Clark County and City of Las Vegas public art projects. Homero Hidalgo currently works for the City of Las Vegas Public Affairs keeping public art beautiful for our community. Both Holly Lay and Homero Hidalgo are graduates from UNLV.
On Tuesday, November 23, Clark County Parks and Recreation Director, Dan Hernandez led the dedication for the Maryland Parkway Fence Art. All three artists were awarded Certifications of Recognition by Commissioner Tick Segerblom.
